CONSERVATION AND SERVICE

The WHO and the WHAT:

FL FISH AND WILDLIFE CONSERVATION COMMISSION
The FFWCC is creating a Land Management Plan as part of their Landowner Assistance Program (LAP) for our 40 acres of beautiful FL hammock. I have a preliminary site-visit report and the actual LMP is currently in the making.

US FISH AND WILDLIFE SERVICE
The USFWS also came along for the site-visit and is partnering with the FFWCC and BPC 270 in helping to maintain our conservation values.

WARRIOR INSTITUTE
Warrior Institute is a Gainesville organization that provides biofeedback and recreational therapy for veterans. 270 is a beautiful place to offer a quiet retreat setting for some of their programs and activities.

All of these groups will be working together to provide opportunities for healing and hope at 270!

The HOW:

Some of this is still in the making:

The house, having been empty for 6-7 years now, is in need of more than just a little TLC.

On site is also a barn/workshop.  It seems to be in a bit better shape than the house.

We have been working hard to get our resident veteran and our recreation vets access to water and facilities.
Our first priorities for setting up septic, water, and electric have finally been accomplished!

We have now been able to move forward in making a comfortable residence…LOTS of bleach and pine sol!

There is still plenty more to do inside and out.
If you can share any of your time and/or talents, we would be happy to meet you!
